On this full day tour, Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo, we will start the day at your accommodation and start the tour followed by the west coast of the island of São Miguel and going up to “Pico do Carvão” where it will be possible to observe a large part of the coast. north and south of the island. With breathtaking views!
We continue the tour towards the natural park of “Lagoa do Canário” to observe the first small lagoon of the day and it is possible to take a short walk to the viewpoint of “Grota do Inferno” which with its imposing view over the volcanic crater of the seven cities and other lakes such as "Lagoa Raza" and "Santiago" and "Lagoa Azul".
Then we will stop at the most emblematic viewpoint of the Azores, the "Vista do Rei" viewpoint to admire the Verde and Azul lagoon and learn the reason for this name.
Before concluding part of the visit and returning to the south of the island, we will make a stop at the “Escalvado” viewpoint to observe the parish of Mosteiros and its imposing rocks and see the “Ponta da Ferraria.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant which includes typical Azorean starters such as cheese and butter, fish or meat dishes, desserts, water, juices, wines or beer and coffee or tea.
After lunch, we begin the ascent to "Pico da Barrosa", the second highest point on the island, to observe the imposing volcanic crater and the fire lagoon, which are about 15,000 years old. They will learn how the heat of the volcano is used to supply renewable electricity to the island.
On this mountain we will make several stops to admire the lagoon and the island's landscape.
After the descent of the mountain, you will be able to visit the city in the north of the island, Ribeira Grande and visit the magnificent local surfing beach, “Santa Barbara”.
You will have the opportunity to bathe in thermal waters where the water is naturally heated by the volcano and contains minerals that are very good for the body at an average temperature of 37 to 39 degrees. This activity is optional.
