In this experience we go to the top of “Pico da Barrosa” to observe the imposing volcanic crater, and how we use the heat of the volcano to produce energy. The tour includes stops to admire the view. We will still visit a liquor factory with tasting and then we will go to the magnificent local surf beach, “Santa Barbara”. You will also have the opportunity to bathe in thermal waters.

We start the half-day tour at your hotel/accommodation and tour the south of the island before starting the ascent to "Pico da Barrosa" the second highest point on the island to observe the imposing volcanic crater and fire lagoon with about 15000 years old. They will learn how the heat of the volcano is used to supply renewable electricity to the island.
On this mountain we will make several stops to admire the lagoon and the island's landscape.
After the descent of the mountain, you will be able to visit the city in the north of the island, Ribeira Grande, visit the island's typical liqueur factory and visit the magnificent local surfing beach, “Santa Barbara”.
You will have the opportunity to bathe in thermal waters where the water is naturally heated by the volcano and contains minerals that are very good for the body at an average temperature of 37 to 39 degrees. This activity is optional.
